Minooka Community High School has the vision to inspire all learners in their development of life-long skills needed to become productive, contributing members of an evolving society. Technology is fundamental to this learning process.
Instructional technology within the Minooka Community High School District has a dual purpose: foremost, technology is to be used to enhance and expand the teaching and learning process. Secondarily, technology is in place to assist in making the administration and management of the schools more efficient.
The MCHS classroom is one where students and teachers engage in a wide variety of educational activities individually, in cooperative groups, and as an entire class. The MCHS student is an actively engaged learner in this process and the MCHS teacher acts as a catalyst to expand both the depth and breadth of these educational experiences. To assist the students and the teachers, access is provided to a wide range of instructional support materials; videos, films, DVD's, presentation and simulation software, library reference materials, and Internet resources. One of the greatest advantages of instructional technology is the ability to offer information in several modalities at once. E-mail and interactive network technologies enhance communication with other students, teachers, and communities both locally and globally. Students will be able to turn in assignments electronically to enable electronic grading.
The use of PowerSchool as a communication tool enables students, parents, teachers, and administrators to work together to improve student achievement. Online access to grades, homework, and attendance information makes it easy for parents and teachers to stay connect on student progress. And, of course, assess to real-time data on the web lets students take more responsibility for their own learning.
