Four Seniors Earn All-State Honors through ILMEA

Posted on January 11, 2017 - The Minooka Community High School Music Department is proud to announce it is sending four musicians to the 2017 Illinois Music Education Conference, which will be held on Thursday, January 26th, through Saturday January 28th in Peoria.  

Seniors Benjamin Dow and Nathan Garner, both members of Concert Choir, auditioned on October 11th at Carl Sandburg High School for the District 1 Senior Chorus alongside 1,000 other high school vocalists.  After auditioning, these students were selected to perform in the District 1 Senior Chorus on Saturday, November 19th at the ILMEA District 1 Music Festival at Elmhurst College. In addition, their efforts earned them ILMEA all-state recognition and qualified them to sing among 300 of the top singers in our state at the Illinois Music Education Conference during the last weekend in January. 

Senior Jenna Morgan, bass clarinet player in Wind Ensemble, and senior Emily Worden, trumpet player in the Wind Ensemble, auditioned on October 11th at Carl Sandburg High School for the ILMEA District 1 Senior Instrumental Ensembles alongside 1,200 other high school musicians. After auditioning, Jenna was selected to play and perform in the District 1 Senior Band, and Emily was selected to play in the District I Senior Orchestra at Elmhurst College on Saturday, November 19th at the ILMEA District 1 Music Festival.  In addition, their efforts earned them ILMEA all-state recognition and qualified them to perform among 300 of the top instrumentalists in our state at the Illinois Music Education Conference during the last weekend in January.
